The Role -

Amphenol Commercial Air is seeking a Design Engineer (Busbars) to work out of its new facility in Endicott, NY. 

The Design Engineer (Busbars) will focus on flexible and rigid busbars. They must have the ability to make design layouts and production drawings; must be capable of assuring form, fit, and function of components through dimensional studies, and correlate engineering data to customer specifications.

The key responsibilities of the Design Engineer (Busbars) include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepares designs and specifications, assists in generation of layouts
  • Creates design standards for high voltage and high-power busbars
  • Ability to make drawings for production and customers
  • Coordinate the manufacturing of customer prototypes
  • Interfaces with other departments for the manufacturing and testing of samples
  • Interfaces with customers and vendors to assure conformance to customer specifications
  • Interfaces with other departments, suppliers and sister divisions to develop new designs
  • Performs the functions required to process estimate requests and marketing product requests
  • Prepares and checks drawings as required and process changes
  • Performs engineering investigations of manufacturing/quality problems
  • Reviews customer documents for compliance with AAO documents and, if necessary, prepares new designs to conform to these documents
  • Works collaboratively with others on the engineering team to accomplish required tasks to support the interests of the business
  • Keeps supervision informed of status of all activities on a periodic basis

Salary: $62,354 - $85,000

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Design Engineer (Busbars) at Amphenol Commercial Air:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with flexible and rigid busbars is preferred
  • The candidate must have the ability to knowledgably present complex designs; be organized, self-motivated and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public in a consistent and timely manner
  • Willingness to contribute extra effort in support of critical business opportunities
  • Ability to manage projects relative to new designs through engineering and qualification testing processes
  • Works from either written or oral instructions, with a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to maintain dedicated focus on intricate details of engineering designs
  • Experience with CAD (Creo or equivalent) and PDM systems (Windchill or equivalent) preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Sitting and typing for long periods of time
  • Ability to travel, less than 10%
