The Role  

Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking a Field Applications Engineer to join the Business Development Team, covering the Central Sales Territory.

This is a remote position; candidate will reside/work from Michigan, Minnesota, or Texas, providing technical support to North American customers and field sales personnel.   

The key responsibilities of the Field Applications Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Designs new or modifies existing electrical and specialty power solutions, scaled solutions, and filtered solutions
  • The ability to communicate design advantages of all Amphenol Aerospace products to customers and then communicate the customer's design to internal engineering and product marketing resources
  • Capable of assuring form, fit, and function of components through preliminary dimensional studies, and correlates engineering data to customer specifications
  • Coordinates the efforts of design and marketing personnel in Sidney, NY
  • Drives design and specifications of connectors, devices, and solutions
  • Helps improve customer delivery and lead time through completion of drawings, specs at initiation of design
  • Interfaces with other departments for the manufacturing and testing of samples
  • Interfaces with customers and vendors to assure conformance to customer specifications
  • Ability to communication conceptual designs to production and customers
  • Coordinates the manufacturing of customer prototypes
  • Reviews customer documents for compliance with AAO requirements and if necessary, prepares new designs to conform to those documents
  • Ability to forecast and track all design activity and present activity to both field sales and management

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Field Applications Engineer at Amphenol Aerospace Operations:

  • B.S. in appropriate discipline or equivalent work experience with interconnect design
  • Must be willing to travel domestically
  • Ability to work with CAD and ProE applications for design
  • Ability to read drawings and 3D files
