The Sr. Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, evaluation, & documentation of sophisticated parts, products, &/or systems.

The Role -
Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking a Sr. Design Engineer to work out its state-of-the-art facility in Mesa, AZ; following an initial training/orientation period, a hybrid work option may be available.
The key responsibilities of the Sr. Design Engineer include, but are not limited to:
- Develop new products to satisfy a market need or solve a user problem
- Develop evaluations/test programs to verify new designs or modifications to current designs
- Prepare and manage planned programs, with or without subordinate responsibility
- Provide engineering support activities including preparation and administration of engineering changes and variation memos, processing of S-sheets and estimate requests, coordination of experimental contracts, and support of qualification programs
- Provide engineering support to manufacturing teams relating to production problems and engineering design
- Coordinate component manufacture, assembly, and sample preparation for Qualification and Development programs
- Interface directly with customers and suppliers, when required
- Keep supervision informed of the status of all activities on a periodic basis
- Prepares drawing packages for new and sustained designs

The Person -
The key skills and qualities of a Sr. Design Engineer at Amphenol Aerospace Operations:
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree in related engineering discipline or equivalent education and experience
- Experience with computer-aided design (Creo or equivalent)
- Proficient in the use and interpretation of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Mechanical design and analysis, drafting and interpretation of engineering drawings, reading, and writing of technical documents
- Technical oversight and project management of product development activities
- Ability to make complex engineering calculations and of representing the company in customer/vendor interfaces
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Demonstrated ability to innovate
- Personal computer experience and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs
- Some travel (less than 10%)
- Preferred:
- Experience in electrical connector design (military and/or commercial)
- Experience working within standard organization writing specifications
- This position entails sitting, typing, bending, some lifting, and use of the computer several hours a day
