
The Role -
Amphenol Aerospace is seeking a New Product Development Design Engineer to work out its state-of-the-art facility in Sidney, NY.
The New Product Development Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and evaluation of sophisticated parts, products, and/or systems. Independently prepares engineering proposals and controls phases of engineering projects. Must be capable of making complex engineering calculations and of representing the company in customer/vendor interfaces.
The key responsibilities of the New Product Development Design Engineer include, but are not limited to:
- Develop new products to satisfy a market need or solve a user problem.
- Develop evaluation/test programs to verify new designs or mitigate project risk.
- Prepares and manages planned programs, with or without subordinate responsibility.
- Provides engineering support activities to assist design engineering in key development projects, providing design instruction and direction to cross functional teams to achieve project requirements.
- Utilize Finite Element Analysis or calculations to analyze mechanical strength of designs prior to manufacture.
- Coordinate component manufacture, assembly and sample preparation for Testing and Development programs.
- Draft invention disclosures and work with patent attorneys to patent/protect new technologies
- Interfaces directly with suppliers on component sourcing, researching new materials, and solving problems.
- Technical interface with customers for new product introductions, responsible for driving engineering engagement and creating new customer relationships to help expand business.
- Keeps supervision and project teams informed of the status of all activities on a periodic basis.
- Find solutions to project delays, work with internal customers to solve problems, use all resources available to make progress on key projects.
Salary $61,500 - $85,000

The Person -
The key skills and qualities of a New Product Development Design Engineer at Amphenol Aerospace:
- Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline +3 years of connector design/testing experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience with Computer-Aided Design (Creo or equiv.) is required.
- Personal computer experience and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs is also required.
- Experience with additive manufacturing and basic tools preferred.
- Ability to travel <10% of the time.
