The Role

Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking a Filters & Hermetic Engineering Manager to work out of its brand new, state-of-the-art facility in Sidney, NY. The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Director.

The key responsibilities of this Filters & Hermetic Engineering Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages and participates in major product development projects from inception to production.  This includes customer interface, design reviews, project management, supplier interface, evaluation, qualification and release to production.
  • Partners with the product marketing organization to establish a strategy for innovative and customer focused product solutions to facilitate organizational growth within major Mil/Aero programs.
  • Coordinates, plans, and manages all projects for the Filter and Hermetic connector engineering department.
  • Works independently in planning and coordinating resources necessary to complete assignments.
  • Provides leadership in the direction of new products and strategies for Filter and Hermetic products.
  • Reviews and analyzes a variety of engineering data to determine requirements for meeting engineering objectives.
  • Technical point of contact for Filter & Hermetic product customers, responsible for driving engineering engagement and developing relationships to expand future business.
  • Interacts with vendors and divisional personnel on significant product design or manufacturing issues.
  • Prepares and conducts performance reviews.
  • Supervise and coordinates the work of all personnel within the Filter and Hermetic engineering department
  • Coordinates and provides support to other departments within Amphenol.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Filters & Hermetic Engineering Manager at Amphenol Aerospace Operations:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering discipline or equivalent education and experience plus 5-8 years experience. 
  • Must have working knowledge of Mil/Aero specifications, engineering design, test and processes and have familiarity with electrical connectors, specifically filter and hermetic connectors with baseline knowledge of EMI, MOV, and Transient filter concepts as well as hermetic sealing solutions.
  • Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CREO or equivalent) and Product Data Management (Windchill or equivalent) preferred.
  • Technical proficiency in Filter and Hermetic technologies and concepts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Team player with strong leadership skills
  • Capability to understand and effectively communicate technical details written and verbal. 
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team with a diverse background of experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience training/mentoring individual contributors and creating procedural/technical documentation
  • Primary requirements of the position require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged period of time
  • Lift and carry light to moderate amounts of weight
