The Role

Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking an EHS Specialist to work out of its brand new, state-of-the-art facility in Mesa. 

The key responsibilities of an EHS Specialist include(s), but are not limited to:

  • Uphold and improve safety policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements and ensure a safe work environment for all team members
  • Maintain expertise on interpreting federal, state, and local EHS regulations
  • Lead the company EHS Committee
  • Conduct OSHA required safety trainings
  • Lead EHS audits and inspections to support compliance certification as required
  • Facilitate the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) program
  • Manage and maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) system
  • Implement incident reporting and participate in accident investigation and root cause identification for work-related injuries and illnesses, on-the-job accidents, or near misses as required
  • Manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety equipment ordering, stocking, alternate/new PPE evaluations, PPE trials
  • Manage chemical inventory
  • Uphold hazardous waste regulations specific to ADEQ and EPA
  • Provide new hire safety orientation, and general training to include: general safety awareness, machine guarding, hand and powered tool safety, ladder safety, lock out tag out (LOTO), forklift, etc.
  • Manage and Develop EHS and Medical Surveillance Programs
  • Facilitate compliance driven projects through identification, evaluation, equipment selection, purchasing, installation and training/new policy implementation
  • Develop and manage key metrics related to EHS performance including Leading Indicators
  • Establish strong relationships with leadership to ensure EHS is considered in all business aspects
  • Interface with regulatory and public sector EHS agencies and authorities as appropriate
  • Oversee and assist plant leadership during facility restructuring projects/major process changes to verify that environmental permits are obtained at the facility prior to the installation or modification of equipment/process change
  • Manage reimbursement accounts
  • PPE Assessments/Facility Assessment

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a EHS Specialist at Amphenol Aerospace Operations:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Health & Safety, Environmental Science or equivalent education/ work experience
  • Knowledge of safety policies, rules and regulations for OSHA, EPA, and other applicable industry standards
  • Knowledge of local environmental regulations
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation preferred
  • 4-7 years: Experience making decisions affecting employee health and safety or facility compliance\
  • Typing, sitting, bending
  • Interaction with operations (walking, lifting, bending, climbing stairs)
  • Occasional travel
  • Strong communication verbally and written
  • MS Office Skills – Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
