Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Designer – Competitive Salary + Benefits – Sidney, NY

The Role

Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Designer to work out of its brand new, state-of-the-art facility in Sidney, NY. The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Director.

The key responsibilities of this Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Designer include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating and modifying artwork files to for a PCB manufacturer 
  • Generating drill, solder paste, solder mask, assembly, silk screen, BOM, fabrication notes, and back drill files
  • Making change notice documentation for updates on previous or new designs 
  • Building and maintaining a parts library
  • Working with an Electrical Engineer to ensure the electrical schematic meets the customer’s requirements
  • Working with a Mechanical Engineer to ensure connector placement / orientation, height restrictions, PCB outline, keep outs, etc. are all met
  • Reviews and analyzes requirements in order to meet customer specifications
  • Interacts independently with customers, vendors and Amphenol personnel effectively
  • Coordinates and provides support to other departments within the Company.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Designer at Amphenol Aerospace Operations:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree in a related engineering discipline or equivalent education is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a related field documentation
  • Experience with Computer-Aided Design (Mentor Graphics PADS or equiv.) is required.
  • Familiarity with PCB manufacturing technologies including via limitations, flex design, stack up restrictions, spacing tolerances, etc.
  • Understanding of schematics and ability to tweak or modify if necessary
  • Ability to route and maintain high speed signaling upwards of 25Gbps
  • Aware of power supply layout to meet EMI/EMC testing
  • Capable of breaking out and routing small pitched BGAs and other ICs
  • Personal computer experience and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs is also required.
  • Understanding of class 3 requirements for military grade PCBs
