Plating Quality Engineer – Competitive Salary + Benefits – Sidney, NY

The Role

Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking a Plating Quality Engineer to work out of its brand new, state-of-the-art facility in Sidney, NY. The successful candidate will report into the Quality Manager and will support all Quality responsibilities.

The key responsibilities of this Plating Quality Engineer  include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyze and discuss quality concerns with assigned manufacturing departments
  • Initiate and verify the effectiveness of formal Corrective Actions
  • Lead cross functional teams of engineers through root cause analysis
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of AS9100, internal Quality Manual, and subordinate procedures
  • Maintain working knowledge of plating procedures and associated product
  • Develop an understanding of chemistry utilized to produce various plating finishes
  • Conduct Quality Audits when appropriate & required
  • Investigate & disposition non-conforming material in a timely manner
  • Implement corrective actions to improve internal & external quality
  • Some administrative duties to process quality assurance paperwork
  • Analyze statistical data for trends to pinpoint improvement activity
  • Occasionally speak with customer to describe non-conformance's and solutions

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Plating Quality Engineer  at Amphenol Aerospace Operations:

  • Four year engineering degree 
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, computer fluency, and interpersonal skills.  
  • Preferred some applicable experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to freely travel throughout a manufacturing floor environment. 
  • Some lifting and carrying of small loads may be required.  Be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be capable of working in a chemical environment that contains hazardous material and/or solutions. Continuously required to move about the plating floor that contains close quarters.
  • Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes and temperature variations. Wear appropriate PPE equipment including eye and hearing protect and safety shoes.
  • Occasionally travel to customers to resolve, or explain prevention of, cited quality issues
