The Role -

Amphenol Aerospace Operations, Commercial Air Division is seeking a Designer to work out of its state-of-the-art facility in Sidney, NY.

The key responsibilities of the Designer include, but are not limited to:

  • Design new or provide sustaining support for existing electrical connectors
  • Prepare design and specifications; assist in generation of layouts
  • Help improve customer delivery and lead time through efficient completion of drawing, specs
  • Interface with other departments for the manufacturing and testing of samples
  • Interface with customers and vendors to assure conformance to customer specifications
  • Possess or have ability to develop sound working knowledge of PTC Creo & Windchill
    • Other related CAD experience will be considered
  • Ability to make drawings for production and customers
  • Review customer documents for manufacturing feasibility and compliance and if necessary, prepare new designs to conform to these documents
  • Ability to prepare and coordinate design change approval requests for items under configuration control
  • Effectively collaborate with and support the entire ACAD design team
  • Keep supervision informed of status of all activities on a periodic basis
  • Creation, tracking and completion of product design change notices

The Person -

The key skills and qualities of a Designer at Amphenol Aerospace Operations:

  • A.A.S. degree in appropriate discipline or equivalent education/work experience
  • Must have ability to make design layouts and production drawings
  • Must be capable of assuring form, fit, and function of components through dimensional studies, and correlate engineering data to customer specifications
  • Performs the duties required to design new or modified existing connectors to satisfy the requirements of the customer
    • This is achieved through communications with marketing, operations, quality, process, purchasing, and experimental personnel
  • Prepares drawings as required and process design changes
  • Performs investigations of manufacturing and/or quality problems
  • Works from either written or oral instructions, with minimal supervision
  • Candidate must be self-motivated and possess a good work ethic
  • Sitting, typing, and other computer work along with standing/walking as required for supporting product manufacturing or testing
  • Domestic and international travel as required
  • The position will require support for a mix of design/development activities and hands-on assignments
