The division in central New York has been a leader in designing and manufacturing electrical components for the aviation and commercial industry for over 90 years.

 

Reporting to the Operations Director, the Materials Director will lead a team of approximately 35 employees (six direct reports) with full responsibility for Purchasing, Planning, Logistics and Inventory for manufacturing sites in Sidney, NY and Nogales, Mexico.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Collaborate daily with Operations, Quality, Customer Service and Marketing in order to achieve On Time Delivery to our customers while achieving our corporate sales expectations

  • Daily interaction with our plants and sister divisions to coordinate On time delivery to our customers

  • Lead a master schedule that is consistent with production & outsource capacity and customer demand for 5 business units

  • Lead continuous improvement activity related to supplier PPV, Customer OTD and factory delinquency

  • Respond to customer expedites and requests while maintaining the master schedule

  • Report to the business: progress toward OTD, Revenue achievement and Supplier Performance

  • Track business metrics daily for full goal achievement while making adjustments if they are required.

  • Own Inventory management and turns for the business

  • Lead all Large purchase negotiation and terms activity

 

Core Competencies & Experience:

The selected candidate must be able to “hit the ground running”.  Qualifications and desired experience include:

  • 5 years of experience with Production Planning, Purchasing and MRP

  • Prior supervisory experience is required

  • Participative management style

  • Proficient analytical and problem solving skills

  • A strong drive to achieve customer satisfaction and performance targets

  • The desire to work with a dynamic team in multiple locations to achieve common goals

  • Must have strong written, verbal and presentation skills as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

  • Able to manage a high mix/low volume environment (greater than 100,000 annual BOM’s)

  • Background in connector manufacturing a significant benefit

Education:

Bachelor's degree required.  Degree in Business, Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics preferred.  MBA a plus.
